What does a Family Assistant do? A day in the life

A Family Assistant takes family management off your hands entirely. Discover what an FA does and why more and more families are making this choice.

Your diary is full, the children need collecting, dinner has not been sorted yet and somewhere in your inbox there is an unanswered message from the dentist. Sound familiar? Then you are not alone. More and more busy families in the Netherlands are choosing a Family Assistant, a professional who takes over family management entirely. But what does an FA actually do on an ordinary day?

Morning: the day is already set up

While you get ready for work, the Family Assistant makes sure the children are ready, the school bags are packed and the day’s schedule is correct. Appointments have already been made, the GP has been called and the groceries for dinner have been ordered. The morning runs smoothly, without the usual rush.

During the day: from planning to practical matters

During the day the Family Assistant manages the family diary, handles parcel deliveries, coordinates the children’s sports and music activities and makes sure the house looks presentable. Maintenance jobs are scheduled too, and household staff, such as the housekeeper or gardener, are managed.

Afternoon: collecting the children, helping with homework

The FA collects the children from school or the sports club, supervises homework and ensures a structured afternoon. Does your child have a birthday party or a playdate? That has already been arranged. The invitations have been sent and the present has been ordered.

Evening: a healthy meal on the table

At the end of the day a fresh, healthy dinner is ready for the whole family. You come home and can simply be there, without worrying about what still needs to be done. That is the strength of a Family Assistant.

More than a housekeeper or a babysitter

A Family Assistant is not a housekeeper and not a babysitter. She is an all round professional who coordinates the complete management of the family. At The Family Assistant we connect families with experienced FAs who truly make the difference. Interested? Feel free to get in touch for a conversation without obligation.
