Rota Nanny: continuity of care, even when your diary is anything but predictable
Not every family lives by a fixed weekly rhythm. There is travel, there may be more than one home, and working days rarely go to plan. For these families a Rota Nanny can be the answer: a professional Nanny working to a fixed rotation, so there is always a familiar face ready for the children.
The Family Assistant matches carefully screened Nannies with families in the high end segment. For a rota arrangement, too, we take the entire selection and screening process off your hands.

What is a Rota Nanny?
A Rota Nanny does not work a set number of days each week, but in periods. A common arrangement is a number of weeks on, followed by an equal period off. During the working period the Nanny is fully available to the family and often lives in. During the time off, a second Nanny takes over.
In this way two Nannies work together on a fixed rotation. The family can rely on uninterrupted care, and the Nannies enjoy genuine rest during their weeks off. That benefits both the quality and the longevity of the arrangement.
Which families is a Rota Nanny suited to?
A rota arrangement particularly suits families for whom a regular working week simply does not fit daily life. For example:
- Parents with irregular or long working days, who need care at varying times.
- Families who travel frequently and would like a trusted Nanny to come along.
- Families with multiple homes, in the Netherlands or abroad.
- Families who would like round the clock care without depending on a single person.
For families with an international lifestyle and a strong need for discretion, please see our Private Families page.

The duties of a Rota Nanny
A Rota Nanny essentially carries out the same duties as any Nanny through TFA, but within a rotation. For instance:
- Daily care and guidance of the children, suited to their age.
- Morning and bedtime routines, with attention to structure, calm and regularity.
- School runs and taking the children to sport and other activities.
- Homework support and learning through play.
- Preparing healthy meals and snacks.
- Close coordination with the parents, the fellow Nanny and other household staff.
- Travelling with the family where required.
A thorough handover between the two Nannies is essential, so that routines, agreements and points of attention carry on seamlessly.
Careful selection and screening
A Rota Nanny is often even closer to a family's private life than a Nanny with fixed working days. Discretion and reliability therefore come first. Nannies through TFA have a background in childcare and education, hold a relevant qualification and are screened on references, a certificate of conduct (VOG), diplomas and paediatric first aid, among other things. For positions that call for it, we apply a more extensive screening procedure.
Once accepted, our Nannies complete the TFA Academy, and we continue to coach and support them throughout their careers.
How does finding a Rota Nanny through TFA work?
The process follows our established way of working: an introduction and intake, a personal search, interviews and a trial session. For a rota arrangement we also discuss the preferred schedule, living arrangements during the working periods and the coordination between both Nannies.
The Nanny is employed directly by the family, and we are happy to help draw up the employment contract. After the start we evaluate the arrangement after one week, three weeks, six months and ten months. In between, we are always available to you.
